2008 Fjord Horses
The stables listed to the right—Green Pasture 23, Olivia Farm, Pack's Peak Stables, and Strawberry Hill —will be partipating in the 2008 parade, or participated in 2007.
The owners drive long distances to attend the parade, and are absolutely wonderful with the Ballard community in presenting their horses. We are very grateful for their willingness to share their horses with our community.
Last year (our first year, 2007), we had an idea that people would enjoy seeing the horses in the parade, but weren't prepared for how much. The horses were brought to Ballard early in the day and exhibited at the Nordic Heritage Museum. They spent the day being petted and cooed at by young and old. One boy was so delighted by them that he stayed all day helping carry water buckets and teaching other children how to feed the horses carrots. We have the feeling that for many children, Syttende Mai 2007 was extra special, and we hope to be part of more good memory making in 2008.
